both sides reviewed various bilateral issues ranging from trade, investment, banking, connectivity, capacity building and upgradation of border infrastructure.

Green Climate Fund approved USD 256 million for Bangladesh
The Green Climate Fund has approved dollar 256 million for Bangladesh in grants and loans to meet its Green House Gas (GHG) emission reduction targets under the Paris agreement.
The financing is provided as an integrated package for textile and Ready Made Garments (RMG) sectors of Bangladesh are the largest industrial contributors in carbon emission.
The two sectors combined together contribute more than 27 percent of the industrial carbon emission as they are working with old and outdated machines with poor energy management.
By 2030, Bangladesh is committed to reduce its GHG emission by 15 percent compared to business-as-usual scenario.
According to the GCF, the funding will facilitate capacity building, awareness raising, policy development and support in loan disbursal and evaluation of programme parameters to textile and RMG sectors in Bangladesh.
It expects to reduce 14.5 million tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent in emissions with the use of this funding.
The funding is part of the dollar 1 billion funding approved by GCF in its 27th board meeting on 14 November for financing low-emission, climate-resilient development in the developing countries.
The funding will be spread over 16 projects in multiple countries including Bangladesh.
In the current year, GCF has approved over dollar 2 billion in new climate finance, taking its total portfolio to over dollar 7 billion.
GCF was set up under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) in 2010 as the world’s largest dedicated fund to help developing countries reduce their carbon emissions.

Scottish writer Douglas Stuart has won the 2020 Booker Prize for fiction with his debut novel Shuggie Bain.
Stuart, 44, who won the 50,000 Pound prize after being announced the winner by chair of the judges Margaret Busby, delivered an acceptance speech.
the Booker Prize shortlist also included Indian-origin writer Avni Doshi’s novel ‘Burnt Sugar’.
First awarded in 1969, The Booker Prize is considered one of the leading prizes for literary fiction written in English.

The Women's Under-17 football World Cup in India, which was initially postponed , was cancelled by FIFA , but India was handed the hosting rights of the 2022 edition.
The FIFA cancelled both the women's U-17 World Cup and U-20 World Cup which were scheduled to be held in India and Costa Rica respectively but handed both the countries the hosting rights of the 2022 editions.
It has also announced that the FIFA Club World Cup, originally planned for next month, will now be held from February 1st to 11 next year in Doha.
Two clubs have already qualified for the tournament.
European champions Bayern Munich will be joined by Qatar Stars League winners Al Duhail who are the host nation's representatives.

The Serbian player achieved the feat as he was given the ATP Tour Number One trophy yesterday for finishing as the year-end number one.
With this, Djokovic has become only the second player in tennis history to do it six times. Before this, Djokovic had finished as world number one in 2011, 2012, 2014, 2015 and 2018.
Among past players, only Pete Sampras has managed to finish six years on top of the rankings which he did between 1993 and 1998.

India’s forex reserves up USD 183 million to record high of USD 560.715 million
The India’s foreign exchange reserves rose USD 183 million to touch a record high of USD 560.715 billion in the week ended October 30.
According to the Reserve Bank India data, in the reporting week, the reserves rose due to an increase in foreign currency assets. FCA rose by USD 815 million to USD 518.339 billion.
The RBI’s weekly data showed that Gold reserves declined USD 601 million in the reporting week to USD 36.259 billion.
The RBI data also showed the special drawing rights with the International Monetary Fund (IMF)decreased USD 6 million to USD 1.482 billion during the week.
India’s reserve position with the IMF also declined by USD 25 million to USD 4.636 billion during the reporting week.

SBI raised USD 1 billion untied loan with JBIC, other lenders
The State Bank of India signed a loan agreement amounting to up to one billion US Dollars with the Japan Bank for International Cooperation, a company statement said in Mumbai yesterday.
The loan is intended to promote the smooth flow of funds for the whole range of business operations of Japanese automobile manufacturers in India.
As part of the agreement, 600 million US Dollars will be financed by JBIC while the remaining amount will be financed by other participating banks.
The facility will be co-financed by SMBC, MUFG Bank, Mizuho Bank, Shizuoka Bank and Bank of Yokahama.
