The day promotes preventative measures to reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases.
The World Heart Federation organizes awareness events in more than 100 countries.
Cardiovascular diseases are the number one cause of death worldwide and this is projected to remain so, according to WHO.
About 17.5 million people died from cardiovascular disease in 2005, representing 30 percent of all global deaths.

The 2020 Russian Grand Prix was a Formula One motor race held on 27 September 2020 at the Sochi Autodrom in Sochi, Russia.
The race was the tenth round of the 2020 Formula One World Championship, ninth running of the Russian Grand Prix and the seventh time held in Sochi.
The 53-lap race was won by Valtteri Bottas of the Mercedes team, with Max Verstappen of Red Bull placing 2nd, and Lewis Hamilton taking the final podium place.

2020 World Risk Index
India ranked 89th among 181 countries on the WRI 2020.
The country was fourth-most-at- risk in south Asia on the index, after Bangladesh, Afghanistan
Sri Lanka, Bhutan and the Maldives fared better than India in their abilities to cope with extreme disasters
India also lagged behind these three neighbours in terms of lack of adaptive capacities or the preparedness to deal with extreme events.
India and other south Asian nations did improve their ranking marginally in the World Risk Index during the course of a year. Bhutan improved its ranking the most.
India also slipped on strengthening adaptive capacities.

World Water Monitoring Day
World Water Monitoring Day was established in 2003 by America's Clean Water Foundation (ACWF) as a global educational outreach program.
The program, subsequently named the "World Water Monitoring Challenge" and "EarthEcho Water Challenge," aims to build public awareness and involvement in protecting water resources around the world by empowering citizens to carry out basic monitoring of their local water bodies.
In 2006, ACWF transferred the coordination of the event to the Water Environment Federation (WEF) and the International Water Association (IWA).
The collective goal was to expand participation to one million people in 100 countries by 2012.
In January 2015 the management of World Water Monitoring Day was transferred to EarthEcho International.

India has provided financial assistance of 250 million dollars as budgetary support to the Maldives government.
A handover ceremony was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Maldives government to mark the occasion.
The budgetary support of 250 million idollars has been extended without conditions.
Maldives government is at liberty to use the money in repairing the domestic economic situation in line with its own priorities.
The financial assistance is being routed through SBI, Male so that it does not reflect in the external borrowings of the Maldives.
Indian government has provided a sovereign guarantee to SBI for this financial assistance.
The soft loan has a comfortable tenor of 10 years and a very low interest rate.

World Bamboo Day was officially established on September 18 at the 8th World Bamboo Congress held in Bangkok in 2009 and declared by the Thai Royal Forest Department.

Cygnus NG-14, previously known as CRS OA-14, is the fourteenth planned flight of the Northrop Grumman robotic resupply spacecraft Cygnus and its thirteenth flight to the International Space Station under the Commercial Resupply Services contract with NASA. The mission is scheduled to launch on 30 September 2020 at 02:26 UTC.[2] This is the third launch of Cygnus under the CRS-2 contract

Kerala most literate state in India, Andhra Pradesh the least, shows NSO survey
Kerala tops the list of the most literate state in India with a literacy rate of 96.2%, while Andhra Pradesh is at the bottom with 66.4%, a survey by the National Statistical Office has revealed.
The report titled “Household Social Consumption on Education in India”, released by the Union Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation, provides state-wise details of education among people above the age of seven. The survey used samples taken between July 2017 and June 2018.
The survey showed that India’s overall literacy rate stands at 77.7%. In rural India, the literacy rate is 73.5% as compared to 87.7% in urban areas.
As many as 84.7% of males above the age of seven are literate, whereas the figure for females stands at 70.3%.
State-wise, Delhi stands at the second spot with 88.7%, followed by Uttarkhand at 87.6% and Himachal Pradesh at 86.6%.
On the other hand, Rajasthan occupies the second-last spot with a literacy rate of 69.7%, preceded by Bihar at 70.9%, Telangana at 72.8% and Uttar Pradesh at 73%.

The 2020 Italian Grand Prix was a Formula One motor race that was held on 6 September 2020 at the Autodromo Nazionale di Monza in Monza, Italy.
The race was the eighth round in the 2020 Formula One World Championship.
The race was won by Pierre Gasly of AlphaTauri, who took his first Formula One win and became the first French Formula One driver to win a race since Olivier Panis won the 1996 Monaco Grand Prix.
The Italian Grand Prix is the fifth oldest national Grand Prix (after the French Grand Prix, the American Grand Prize, the Spanish Grand Prix and the Russian Grand Prix), having been held since 1921.
In 2013 it became the most held (the 2019 edition was the 89th).
It is one of the two Grand Prix (along with the British) which has run as an event of the Formula One World Championship Grands Prix every season, continuously since the championship was introduced in 1950
Every Formula One Italian Grand Prix in the World Championship era has been held at Monza except in 1980, when it was held at Imola.

The prime purpose of the International Day of Charity is to raise awareness and provide a common platform for charity related activities all over the world for individuals, charitable, philanthropic and volunteer organizations for their own purposes on the local, national, regional and international level.
