Heracles inexpectatus is a giant fossil parrot species from New Zealand, assigned to a monotypic genus Heracles, that lived during the early Miocene.

The species was described from fossils discovered in 2008 at Saint Bathans, Otago, New Zealand.

It is believed that the species stood up to 1 m (3 ft 3 in) tall and weighed approximately 7 kg (15 lb).

Initial analysis suggests it is from the superfamily Strigopoidea, which consists of three confirmed genera of parrots: Nestor (kea and kaka), Strigops (kakapo) and the fossil Nelepsittacus.

The species was likely flightless

International Monetary Fund, IMF, has warned that increasing United States tariffs could cut China's growth sharply.

China's economy is slowing already due to the trade conflict with the United States.

The IMF trimmed its growth forecast for China to 6.2 percent this year, assuming no new tariffs are imposed.

in the past week US announced a new round of punitive tariffs on Chinese goods, despite a truce agreed with China  in May, and Beijing responded by halting all purchases of US agricultural goods.

IMF has called for a quick resolution to the trade conflict between these two countries as the impact would have significant negative spillovers globally.

In Nepal reconstruction of 380 earthquake affected cultural and heritage sites have been completed.

More than 2.12 billion Nepali rupees spent on reconstruction of 96 World Heritage monuments and 284 other archaeological and cultural sites.

 According to National Reconstruction Authority of Nepal after significant progress in the reconstruction of private houses the authority has given top priority to reconstruction of archaeological and cultural heritage sites.

Over 150 heritage sites are scheduled to be reconstructed in the current financial year.

Besides the Government of Nepal many other countries including India, China, USA, Switzerland, Sri Lanka and Japan are providing financial assistance for the reconstruction of quake-affected heritage monuments.

A total 891 sites of archaeological and cultural importance were damaged in Nepal due to devastating earthquake in 2015.

The US government has approved the sale of 12 multi-mission Sea hawk helicopters to South Korea worth 800 million US dollar.

South Korea had agreed to pay more for US military presence in their country.

The helicopters bolster anti-surface and anti-submarine missions and can handle secondary missions like replenishment, search and rescue and communications relay.

The two countries have been in a security alliance since the 1950-53 Korean war which ended with a ceasefire rather than a peace treaty, with more than 28,000 US troops stationed

The United States has revoked visa-free entry rights to the country, for foreigners who have visited North Korea in the past eight years.

The US allows citizens of 38 countries  including South Korea, Japan and France to enter for up to 90 days without a visa under a waiver program

But visitors who have traveled to eight countries including North Korea since March 1, 2011, are "no longer eligible".

these people will have to apply for tourist or business visas.

The other seven countries - most of them in the Middle East were already on the exclusion list.

US citizens have been banned from visiting North Korea since 2017

Model village built with Indian assistance inaugurated in Sri Lanka

In Sri Lanka, the Gandhi Nagar model village built with Indian assistance was inaugurated and the completed houses handed over to the beneficiaries.

It is the second of the 100 model villages being built with Indian assistance and is named after Mahatma Gandhi, in his 150th birth anniversary.

Government of India has partnered with the Sri Lankan government to build 100 model villages with a total of 2,400 houses all across Sri Lanka under Indian grant assistance of 120 crore rupees.

These houses are in addition to the 60,000 houses built under the Indian Housing Project meant for war-affected people in the North and East and the estate workers in the plantation areas.

The overall development portfolio of Government of India in Sri Lanka is close to 3 billion US Dollars, out of which 560 million US Dollars are in grants.

Indian tourists exempted from visa fees by Sri Lankan govt

India is among 48 countries whose citizens have been exempted from visa fees for tourism purposes by Sri Lankan government with effect from tomorrow.

visa fees, which ranged from 20 to 40 US dollars, will not be charged for grant of one month visa for tourism.

The tourists can apply for electronic travel authorisations online or apply for visa on arrival.

the measure will be implemented for six months initially and a decision will be taken later for extension depending upon its impact on revenue.

they expect revenues from enhanced tourism arrivals to offset the loss.

Indian tourist constitute the maximum number with around one fourth of total tourist arrivals.

Tourism is Sri Lanka’s third largest and fastest growing source of foreign currency last year, accounting for almost 5 percent of gross domestic product in 2018.
