The government of South Australia has given planning approval to a major solar thermal plant
The project is being developed by US company SolarReserve at a budgeted cost of A$650m (£380m)
Construction on the 150-megawatt Aurora plant, to be built by utility-scale solar power company Solar Reserve, will begin in 2018
40 per cent of South Australian power came from wind and solar,
SolarReserve has claimed the new plant will be able to power around 35 per cent of all of the households in South Australia.
It will have the capacity to power 90,000 homes with eight hours of full load .
