Birmingham named 2022 Commonwealth Games host city

Birmingham has been selected to host the Commonwealth Games in 2022,

it is  the biggest sporting event to be awarded to an English city since the London Olympics in 2012.

Louise Martin, president of the Commonwealth Games Federation announced Birmingham as host city

 Common Wealth Games is to be hosted in England for the first time since Manchester hosted the Games in 2002.

2018 Common Wealth Games will take place in Australia’s Gold Coast from 4-15 April 2018.

The Commonwealth Games is an international multi-sport event involving athletes from the Commonwealth of Nations. The event was first held in 1930, and has taken place every four years since then
